El primer estudio BACON está terminando. Luego de una gran colaboración entre las redes PALISI, LARed y otros hospitales norte y sudamericanos, el análisis final se está realizando y los manuscritos escribiendo. Muchos de ustedes han contribuido con datos y están trabajando en sus estudios auxiliares. Pero hay tanto que no sabemos sobre bronquiolitis crítica. BACON se focalizó en lactantes intubados con ventilación mecánica invasiva, pero la mayoría de los lactantes en la UCIP con bronquiolitis grave reciben soporte no invasivo, y esto es donde queremos focalizarnos en el siguiente estudio BACON.
Súmate a nosotros y sé parte de BACON-2 que comienza en Julio de 2023 y durará un período de un año. Este es un estudio observacional de prevalencia puntual de niños menores de 1 año admitidos a UCIP con bronquiolitis u otras infecciones respiratorias bajas que sean tratadas inicialmente con soporte respiratorio no invasivo. Nuestros objetivos son comprender mejor el soporte no invasivo en la UCIP, sus desenlaces y los factores asociados con mejoría de los mismos. El estudio es liderado por investigadores de Estados Unidos y toda Latinoamérica de habla hispana y Brasil.
